Dear colleagues,

It’s a great pleasure to invite you to International Joint Conference on Medical Innovations in Chiba scheduled to be held at Keisei Hotel Miramare, Chiba, Japan, in March 2014.

During the recent three decades, wide-spread of imaging and endoscopic apparatuses and devices had been promoting the change in medicine in various ways including accurate diagnosis, less invasive therapies and concept of diseases. The emerging technologies in the engineering fields still have been urging us to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic methods to consider and achieve safe and sophisticated medicine.

In Chiba University, two sections of medical engineering, Research Center for Frontier Medical Engineering and Department of Medical System Engineering, were established in 2003 and in 2004. Last year, these two sections were unified to be a “Center for Frontier Medical Engineering” with 19 full-time staffs. In the Center, several mainstay research projects are running and two of these projects had been accepted as a governmental special budget project of ministry of education, culture, sports, science and technology, and another as a startup program in Chiba University for “Center of Excellence” in Japan.
The former was a project for less invasive therapy; “Water-Filled Laparo-Endoscopic Surgery (WaFLES)” project, and the latter “High Accurate and Less-Invasive Diagnostic and Treatment for Gastrointestinal Cancer (HALIDAT-GC)” project.
In the conference, active researchers with numerous achievements from Japan, Israel, China, and US will have presentation and joint discussion together.
We keenly hope you all join to the conference and share a fruitful time.

当サイトをご覧いただき、誠にありがとうございます。皆様に「International Joint Conference on Medical Innovations in Chiba」のご案内を申し上げます。

 振り返れば、過去30年間にわたる診療上の技術革新には目を見張るものがありますが、画像診断機器の普及と内視鏡や腹腔鏡による治療が、診療の形態と疾病に対する考え方を大きく変えたといっても過言ではありません。またこれらには工学的技術の貢献が大きく、現在でもこの分野の技術革新が続いており、今後医療は益々安全で高精度になるように思われます。

 千葉大学では医工学研究組織であるフロンティアメディカル工学研究開発センターが2003年に、教育組織である工学部メディカルシステム工学科が2004年に設立されました。2013年にはこの2つの組織が統合され、専任教員19名を要するフロンティア医工学センターが発足しました。このセンターではいくつかの基幹プロジェクトが進行していますが、このうちの2つがそれぞれ文部科学省特別経費プロジェクト、および本学COEスタートアッププログラムに採択されました。前者は「人工腹水を用いた低侵襲治療プロジェクト」で、「水中手術」や「WaFLES」と呼んでいます。後者は「高度医用画像技術」プロジェクトで略して「FERMI」と呼んでいますが、このうち消化器を対象としたものを「HALIDAT-GC」と呼んでいます。
このカンファレンスでは日本、イスラエル、中国、および米国で活発な研究を行っている研究者が講演と討議を行い、この分野での近未来の医療と医療機器の在り様を模索するものです。
是非皆様にはご参加賜り、一緒に考えながら実り多い学術集会になりますれば幸甚と存じます。
