ABSTRACT

At center of e-health, we focus on various research activities such as Biomedical imaging, Rehabilitation, signal and image processing, robotic and automation. Three main areas are focuses. They are rehabilitation system, Development of breast cancer detection techniques, and Development of Brain Early Infarct Detection System. These areas are working closely with medical doctors (MD) at Malaysia Government hospitals and Rehabilitation centers.

For the rehabilitation system, it increases efficiency. The center is able to deliver walking Assistive Device, Wheelchair Based Walking Assistive Device, brainwaves Controlled Wheelchair, Kinect Based Rehabilitation Exercise, and Virtual Reality Based Rehabilitation Exercise.

For breast cancer detection, we encourage patients to take contrast reagent. After taking drugs, the images are sorted by using the image sorting system. After sorted, the 3D reconstruction method is utilized to construct the 3D model. This design also has hand gesture control through webcam navigation for touch less control over 3D model. It is useful in surgical room for surgeon to check on patient's medical images through touch less navigation control. Artificial neural network is also implemented to aid in breast cancer diagnosis. It is used to train the constructed network with breast cancer patients.

For brain for early infarct issues, we have developed contrast enhancement techniques to assist professional radiologists to diagnose early infarcts of acute ischaemic stroke from computed tomography of brain within the golden hours. This invention proposes medical computerized assisting system software. They are Mean of Greyscale Level to Standard Deviation Ratio, Average of Median of Statistical Central Moments, Gamma Correction Extreme-Level Eliminating with Weighting Distribution, and Sigmoidal Eliminating Extreme Level Weight Distributed Histogram Equalization. All these techniques have been applied at several Malaysia Government hospitals to assist MD to detect lesions from patients.
