Computational colour image reproduction

概要

２００５年１１月より当センター羽石研究室にポストドクトラル
研究員として在籍している演者に，これまでの研究について
紹介いただく．
In my presentation I will talk about some of the problems of digital colour
image reproduction and discuss computational approaches to their solution.
In particular I will talk about a computational model of surfaces that
induce the same colour under one viewing condition (light/observer) while
become distinctly different under a change in the viewing conditions - a
phenomenon known as metamerism. I will present applications of this model to
practical problems in colour image reproduction, such as estimating surface
spectral reflectance properties from camera RGB responses. I will also
present research on a novel approach to solving the problem of colour
constancy - a phenomenon of the human visual system whereby surface colours
maitain their appearance under varying illumination. This model happens also
to be linked to the human visual systems anatomy, which I will also briefly describe.
